Dr. Michael Warsh, Simon Fraser University
マイケル・ウォルシュ先生からのメッセージ

I have known Dr. Yoshifumi Sato over the past two decades and did so in several capacities. I had the wonderful opportunity of spending a considerable amount of quality time with him while he was working on his Ph.D. here at Simon Fraser University and had many good visits with him when he was in Vancouver to study, with his students, or when he was accompanying others from Hokkaido. I believe I was in some small way a help to him when he was working on the dissertation. I did so by providing him with an ‘extra eye’ on his writing. I learned much in that process and enjoyed the collegiality greatly. Over the many years that Sato came to study and to visit in Vancouver we were able to spend time talking and eating and visiting – just hanging out together. This was time that I will always remember fondly. One particular highlight for me occurred in 2008 when I had the opportunity of spending time with Sato in Hokkaido. His hospitality and his graciousness, his warmth and thoughtfulness and generosity will always be the remembered and valued. Throughout the decades it has been a great pleasure for me to have had the opportunity to work with Sato on a professional basis, but even more so, to have been a friend of his. I hope to see him again soon, perhaps in Japan or in Hawaii or here in Vancouver. I wish him all the best on his retirement.
